Seven years ago a new home started to take shape at Waikanae Beach. This was unlike anything seen previously on the coast. In time a beautiful 16 metre curved concrete wall appeared around the property. This was just a small part of an individually designed and stunningly presented house. This was a complex build, with boxing shuttering needing to be built on site, due to its non-standard nature. This outstanding build was nominated by Allied Concrete for a national design and build award.
The 320 square metre property has provided a beautiful home for its owners. However after seven fantastic years they have decided to move away from the beach, and build another new home, whilst still incorporating many of the previous features. Their goal this time is to build a Passive House, and enjoy all the benefits and comfort this brings; so of course they were delighted to be able to come back to Mike to and ask him to build for them again, having had such a great building experience previously.
Mike has already started the design and consent process in a prestigious Waikanae development for the couple’s next home, which will have all the benefits of being passive, whilst bringing some of the fantastic architecture they have been enjoying for years.
