When you build with QBuild, we walk with you every step of the way. It’s a team effort and we love to work alongside your architect or designer from the start to ensure the best result.

Planning is everything

Building a house or completing a significant renovation is a major undertaking. The better the planning, the easier the project will run, and the end result: a better home that exceeds your expectations. The majority of the process happens before we even lift a hammer!

We appreciate the process of designing and building a new home can seem complex, so we want to make it easy for you. If you’re only just starting to think about your new home, you want to read our 7 steps to planning your new build. Below is a rough guide to the steps we will take together to successfully complete your building project.

The Building Process


First Steps

  • Understand your ideas. Listen and learn about what you want to achieve.
  • Review our portfolio of work and gain assurance that we are the right team for you.
  • It’s about us understanding what you want, and you becoming comfortable with us as your builder of choice
  • Review our Passive House ShowHome and gain understanding of that building method and also to review our work first hand
  • It’s critical for us to see your site, and ideally before you purchase.
    • Naturally the type of site, lay of the land, soil composition and access to services will all impact the build and cost
  • We often view potential sections for clients ahead of the purchase
    • This helps us understand your thoughts and plans better
    • Provides a starting point for building an idea on cost

Pre-Build

  • Choose a designer/architect
    • We have access to a number of architects and designers
    • plus through eHaus we can access their own PassiveHaus design hub
  • Commission a design
  • Approve design
    • There may be a couple of smaller revisions, but major revisions are likely to incur additional costs
  • Concept plans created
  • Initial Budget prepared
  • Interior design investigated and approved
  • Budget approval

Build

  • Deposit paid
  • Construction starts
  • Client access to online portal set up
  • Regular planned inspections for clients can be made
  • Regular building inspections conducted to ensure council codes are met
  • Completion and final inspection to meet building codes are carried out
  • Certifications applied for
  • Client quality control inspection
  • Final remedial work completed
  • Final payments made

Post-Build

 

  • Official handover and welcome
  • 10 Year independent warranty can be implemented
  • Regular warranty and maintenance checks can be scheduled to ensure warranty remains valid
